The measurement most makers do not publish
You buy folding furniture for what it takes when it is put away. We counted how many makers tell you.
Of the 16 pieces in this catalogue that store away smaller -- they fold, they come apart or they deflate -- only 6 publish what they measure folded. The other 10 do not say it anywhere in their listing.
How this is counted
Only furniture that genuinely stores away is included. A bed with drawers or a lifting base does not fold: it uses volume it already occupies, so it has no folded measurement to publish and stays out of the count. Counting those as a failure would mean inventing a figure, which is the very thing this page complains about.
The figure is looked for where it should be: in the maker's own listing. We do not estimate it from the photograph and we do not work it out from the open size. If it is not there, it counts as not there.

Why it matters
Everyone publishes the open measurement, because that is the one that makes the furniture look generous. The folded measurement is the one that tells you whether it fits in the gap beside the fridge, behind a door or on top of the wardrobe. The first one sells; the second one decides.
A piece sold as folding that will not say what it measures folded is asking you to buy blind on the exact thing you are buying it for. And the classic mistake in a small flat is to measure where the furniture will be used and forget to measure where it will be kept.
What we do about it
Leave it empty and say so. Where the maker does not publish the figure, the entry says exactly that and the space score is left uncalculated. We could estimate it from the open size and nobody would notice, but it would be an invented number wearing the clothes of a measurement.
