Worked out with an absolute anchor Editorial judgement

* The manufacturer does not publish a reliable folded measurement for this model, so space efficiency is worked out from what we do know: how compact it is open and what it weighs. How we score.

We could not score «capacity» because the manufacturer does not publish the figures needed. That axis shows as zero on the chart: it is a declared gap, not a low score.

The analysis

If you can only buy one thing for a small flat, this is usually it. Twenty kilos of plates and three bars cover most of what a beginner needs, and between sessions the whole lot goes in a box under a bed. Nothing else in home training disappears that completely.

The set makes two 10 kg dumbbells or one 20 kg barbell, and the plates come in 2.5, 1.25 and 1 kg, so the steps between weights are small enough to progress rather than jump.

Be clear about the material: concrete and sand under a plastic coating, not cast iron. That is why it costs what it costs. It is also why the coating chips if you drop it on a hard floor, which is what the lower reviews are about.

And 20 kg is a ceiling. For a beginner it is months of training; for anyone already lifting it is a warm-up. Buy it to find out whether you will train at home, not to keep training at home for ever.

In favour

  • Two 10 kg dumbbells or one 20 kg barbell from the same set
  • Plates in three sizes, so the jumps are small
  • Goes back in a box: no rack, no stand, no floor
  • 2,411 ratings averaging 4.4

Against

  • Concrete and sand under plastic, not cast iron
  • 20 kg is a ceiling: there is nowhere to go from here
  • Changing the weight means unscrewing spinlocks, not a dial

Best for: A flat with no room for a rack, where the training has to disappear between sessions.

What the people who bought it say

Across 2,411 ratings the average is 4.4. Buyers mention the price and the range of plates. The complaints are about the plastic coating chipping and about the spinlocks working loose in use.
